Workforce Development And Job Training Programs

One necessary tool for transitioning the homeless to housing, or a low-income individual to a sustainable income, is developing skills to enter the workforce.

Classes are FREE to participants

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) & Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) Nursing Certificate

Classes begin : Thursday, March 23, 2023
Duration: 3 weeks
8:30am-5pm

As the population of senior citizens in the United States increases dramatically, so does the need for Certified Nursing Assistants and Geriatric Nursing Assistants. This class is designed for the individual who wants to enter a thriving profession. By obtaining the CNA or GNA certificate, participants will be qualified to work in a long-term care facility or in the home to aid the elderly in a higher quality of life with dignity and purpose.

A student must pass the written and clinical component of an exam.

Students:

  • Receive practical, hands-on experience
  • Learn from professionals
  • Fulfill their school’s internship requirements

Participants who complete the course will receive a Maryland certified nurse training program certificate.

Students who complete this program are required to maintain employment in a facility for at least four months after receiving their license.

Free Community Health Worker Training Program

Wednesday, March 29, 2023 – Friday, July 7, 2023

 44 Practicum hours in person
Start earning between $17 and $22 an hour upon graduation!***

This FREE Community Health Worker (CHW) Training helps underserved communities improve their health outcomes through advocacy, outreach, informal counseling, referrals to health services and much more.

Graduates are officially recognized by the Maryland Department of Health as a certified CHW.

This is a 15 week class that begins on March 29th, 2023.

Location
Classroom portion (168 hours): Virtual through Zoom
Practicum portion (40 hours): In-person at several different sites throughout PG and Montgomery County

Requirements
– Valid Work Permission
– Proof of Residency in PG County*
– Complete a Pre-Course Interview with the Program Director
– Basic Zoom and Google App skills

*Scholarships available for Non-PG County residents

*Proof must be: valid MD license with PG address, utilities with the participant’s name and PG address or rent agr.
